
The Elephant's Trunk nebule (IC1396) is a large concentration of interstellar gas and dust located in the constellation Cepheus about 2,400 light-years from earth. The elephant trunk region is illuminated and ionized by a very bright, massive multiple star system know as HD 206267.

This photo of IC1396 was taken September 2025 in Loveland, Colorado. The telescope used was a Sky Watcher Esprit 120mm and ZWO ASI6200 CCD camera. total exposure time was 5 hours taken with Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Sulfur narrowband filters.
